You evaluate yourself as less capable, less handsome, less smart, less successful, etc., than others. You feel insecure about yourself, and do not feel you can reach the level of others. The feeling of not being good enough is dominant. This can lead to a feeling of hopelessness, sadness, and anxiety, among other things.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Low self-esteem can affect our behavior in such a way that we become reserved and withdrawn. It can lead to us not daring to seek out new experiences, and not daring to take the initiative in new relationships. Conversely, it can also make us whip ourselves into all sorts of activities and achievements in the hope of proving to ourselves and others that we are worth something. This strategy is rarely helpful and will typically not eliminate low self-esteem.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Low self-esteem can be a result of one&#039;s upbringing, childhood experiences, relationships as an adult, or at work. But we don&#039;t always know where our low self-esteem comes from or what the background is.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In therapy, we will examine the &#039;root&#039; of low self-esteem, as well as uncover which inappropriate thought patterns we have created based on our low self-esteem. These thought patterns keep us in a destructive cycle and hinder us when we try to move forward. We will focus on developing new strategies to make low self-esteem less dominant in everyday life so that you are freer to act in the way you really want. Gradually, you can become able to create the life you want, without being limited by low self-esteem.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">3 steps to start the positive change yourself<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 1rem;\"><i>Set aside a quarter of an hour to think about the situations where your low self-esteem becomes particularly evident. Write these situations down. Maybe you write &#039;during the informal chat during lunch break at work&#039;, or &#039;in my role as a parent with other parents&#039;, etc.<\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 1rem;\"><i>Under the situations, write down the specific unpleasant thoughts that arise in that situation. Maybe you write &#039;During lunch break: -Everything I say sounds silly -Everyone looks at me askance when I talk -I can&#039;t think of anything interesting to say&#039;<\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 1rem;\"><i>Next time, in the situation, try to notice the thought as it comes. Take a deep breath, and tell yourself that the thought is welcome to be there. Return your focus to what is going on around you. Man vurderer sig selv som mindre dygtig, mindre flot, mindre klog, mindre succesfuld osv., end andre. Man f\u00f8ler sig usikker p\u00e5 sig selv, og f\u00f8ler ikke man kan n\u00e5 op til andres niveau. F\u00f8lelsen af ikke at v\u00e6re god nok er dominerende. Dette kan f\u00f8re til en f\u00f8lelse af bl.a. h\u00e5bl\u00f8shed, tristhed, og \u00e6ngstelse.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Lavt selvv\u00e6rd kan p\u00e5virke vores adf\u00e6rd p\u00e5 den m\u00e5de at vi bliver reserveret og tilbagetrukne. Det kan f\u00f8re til at vi ikke t\u00f8r ops\u00f8ge nye oplevelser, og ikke t\u00f8r tage initiativ til nye realtioner. Det kan modsat ogs\u00e5 g\u00f8re at vi pisker os selv afsted til alskens aktiviteter og pr\u00e6stationer i et h\u00e5b om at bevise for os selv og andre at vi er noget v\u00e6rd. Denne strategi er sj\u00e6ldent hj\u00e6lpsom og vil typisk ikke fjerne det d\u00e5rlige selvv\u00e6rd.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Et lavt selvv\u00e6rd kan v\u00e6re resultat af ens opv\u00e6kst, oplevelser i barndommen, i parforhold\/relationer som voksen, eller p\u00e5 arbejdet. Men vi ved ikke altid hvor vores lave selvv\u00e6rd kommer fra, eller hvad baggrunden er.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">I terapien vil vi unders\u00f8ge \u2018roden\u2019 til det lave selvv\u00e6rd, samt afd\u00e6kke hvilke uhensigtsm\u00e6ssige tankem\u00f8nstre vi har skabt p\u00e5 baggrund af vores lave selvv\u00e6rd. Disse tankem\u00f8nstre fastholder os i en destruktiv cirkel og sp\u00e6nder ben for os n\u00e5r vi fors\u00f8ger at komme videre. Vi vil fokusere p\u00e5 at udvikle nye strategier for at g\u00f8re det lave selvv\u00e6rd mindre dominerende i hverdagen s\u00e5 man er friere til at handle p\u00e5 den m\u00e5de man egentlig \u00f8nsker.
